| 2nd MCI bus of my long career and I hope the last! Bus was left with half the bus on the pavement and half the bus off the shoulder drop off. Don’t know why they left it there as there was a 2 acre parking area directly to the right of the bus. Happened sometime in the middle of the night and they did set out their reflectors before leaving. About 4 pm the Sheriff Dept decided to impounded it since it appeared that it would still be there come night fall. Every door and compartment on the bus locked. Sheriff department could not get in and I attempted to open the door for about 15 minutes to no avail. Decided to start lifting and blocking to get the front up high enough to wheel grid which was a real chore due to the position of the bus hanging off the shoulder. Got it hooked up crawled under and disconnected the drive shaft and caged the brakes. Air bags appeared to be inflated which was a good thing because I could not find any hookup on the outside and to get to the compressor hookup, you would have to be a contortionist. Hooking up an 18 wheeler takes me around 45 minutes but it took 1.7 hours for the MCI which I thought was far too long but I felt every minute of it. Headed for the impound yard, pulled in, came to a stop, looked in my mirror and the dang door slowly opened all the way – now it won’t stay shut. These buses are a rare happening in our area and with the problems I had with this one, I hope they become extinct but what the heck – all in a days work!
